Grayson’s First Home Movie

July 28th, 2009

Thought I would try making a video out of his 4D.  Hope you enjoy.

Single-digit countdown, less than 9 weeks…

Single-digit countdown, less than 9 weeks…

We got a second chance at the 4D ultrasound. And Grayson still was being difficult. We got a couple good shots of his face and little mouth. But my favorite is the fist shot. I could feel him punching and then we all saw him doing it. Busted! They measured his feet again just to make sure. You can’t tell in the pictures but his hands and feet are very large so the obvious- yes he is going to be tall like his daddy. From what they could tell he has gained a pound, weighs in around 4lbs, average.

For those like me that can’t really imagine or tell what the baby looks like here is a good image and drawing.

week31

From this point on they say Grayson will gain a ½ pound every week until birth. Baby’s lung’s are now more developed but are not completely mature, especially with little boys.

These will be the last good pictures of Grayson until he is born. I will have to go back next Wednesday to make sure my blood pressure isn’t too low. They put me back on my heart medicine but assured me no harm to the baby, very mild.

Now that he is growing bigger each week, I can really feel it. Bending over is starting to become difficult and funny looking. I was sitting on a stone pulling weeds around the mailbox yesterday and started to roll off and couldn’t stop myself.
Just call me grace.

3rd Trimester and holding on…

July 10th, 2009

We have about 10 more weeks, getting down to the end. Hard to believe. We went to the doctor and Grayson is great. Almost 3lbs and 15 inches.

Reality of sleepless nights and the cost of a baby are starting to set in but we are so ready to hold our little Grayson. I never thought I would love something so much that I have never seen or held in person. We are so thankful for a healthy pregnancy and so far no complications. We have been busy trying to get everything for the nursery set up and fix things around the house. Still reading books when I can. I started the baby whisperer and enjoying it very much. Any other books or items that anyone can suggest we need please let me know.

Grayson and I are doing well. He is still kicking like crazy. It amazes me that he can kick and hit at the same time on opposite sides of my belly making me jerk in shock.  He likes my right side the best, we just haven’t figured out if it’s his head or butt that we are rubbing. I think I’m doing pretty good but as anyone pregnant in the south during the summer I catch myself griping and have to stop. Poor Scott has been the one along with my family that has gotten hit with the “hormones” and the “why is it so freakin’ hot”. Other than that typical pregnancy, “can you pull me up” or “just roll me over”. Coco is still sitting on the belly guarding it. He just jumps and jumps trying to see what exactly is in the crib. We are ready and can’t wait to see our little one, even Coco can’t wait.

We went to get the 4D ultrasound today. Grayson was being a little stubborn and wouldn’t turn around for us. Plus he was laying right next to the cord making it hard to get a good picture. The nurse was very kind and told us to come back in two weeks for free to get a better view. I hope you enjoy the pics that we are providing. His foot is measuring at 2.5 in so far…

More updates soon… Enjoy

The sweet smell of baby clothes

June 24th, 2009

I love the smell of clean baby clothes. Pulling clothes out of the dryer last night I couldn’t help but smell all of them. Scott was laughing at me, saying enjoy it now, in 6 months you’ll be complaining about having to wash all those baby clothes. I don’t know, they just smell so good.

Speaking of baby clothes. Margaret’s daughter Stacey and our good friend Marci both gave us so many clothes and items for Grayson. We are so thankful. Plus all the maternity clothes that everyone has given me. Thank you all. We are so blessed to have such kind friends. I love the cute raccoon one with the little knit hat that has ears. Oh yes it has ears. This one is so much better than the sweater outfit I bought for Grayson! Scott of course loves all the Alabama and Troy ones. Baby clothes are always so much fun to buy but I know they grow out of them quickly and can be very pricey. We can’t say thank you enough.

Both Grayson and I are just growing. I’m still waiting to see what is going to happen to my belly button. I think my belly grew overnight this past weekend. Grayson has gained another half a pound. We are at 27 weeks now. Hard to believe he will be here in 3 months. Just in time for the fall and SEC football! We went to St. Vincent to see Jim and Evita’s little boy Sunday and Scott looked so precious rocking their little 6 LB baby. He is going to be a great dad.

Went to the doctor this morning for my gestational diabetes test and everything was good, passed it. I will go back in a few weeks for the 4D ultrasound. We can’t wait! We will hopefully get to see little Grayson’s face.

Coco graciously modeled one of our outfits for Grayson. Enjoy.

Quick News Update… This just in

June 23rd, 2009

After much deliberation and paper, rock, and scissors.. (just kidding about the paper, rock…). Ashley and I have decided to change the name of our baby boy. His new name is…

Grayson Scott Erb

I really wanted to share my name with my son. And not knowing if we will ever have another son again, we wanted to add “Scott” now. We will still call him Grayson or G-baby.

Tomorrow Ashley goes for her Glucose test.  Say a prayer that all goes well tomorrow.  Hard to believe we are 3 months away.

23 weeks and Kicking

May 31st, 2009

Went to the doctor Wednesday and everything looks good. Baby Grayson is kicking and doing great. The heartbeat is at 159 (quick and loud to find now). At my next appointment I’ll have the gestational diabetes test, but that’s not for another 4 weeks. It’s hard to believe we have less than 4 months until baby Erb is here. It’s funny because I’ll be doing something and forget I’m even pregnant until I feel him move. It’s amazing that there is a little baby living and growing in my belly. Such a miracle. I LOVE IT!!! Speaking of little, Grayson is almost a foot long now about the size of a play toy baby doll and weighing almost a pound now. The doctor said he will double in size by the next appointment.

Grayson is kicking more and more every day. Scott still can’t feel him kicking but he can see my belly moving. I’ll try to catch it on video. My belly is growing more and more every day. Literally I feel as though I look bigger in the matter of hours sometimes. I must say this whole thing is just kind of flying right by; it is kind of scary how fast it’s going! My bellybutton is beginning to come to the surface which is really odd looking. Not sure why I have this fear of my belly button popping out, but I do! Almost there.

Here is a picture of the nursery so far. I’m still working on the mural. It makes me smile every time I pass the room. I just love it so far. But it is weird to see a crib in the house. Mom and I went to pick out a rocker and of course bought some other things. I found a sweater set for this winter on sale and decided to buy it. Wish you could have seen Scott’s face.

Coco's Buddy

We got a giraffe as a gift and Coco (the dog) thinks it’s his new best friend. He rolls the ball to him and waits for him to play. He is still waiting. Coco is also bringing all of his toys up to the nursery, which is pretty funny. He is ready for Grayson to get here so he’ll have a buddy to play with.

We won’t get to see Baby Grayson until week 29 at the next ultrasound. That just seems so far away. We can’t wait.

It’s a Boy!!!

April 30th, 2009

It's a Boy!!!What an Awesome Day! The sweet nurse that was doing the ultrasound was very good to us. She took the normal measurements and information then asked the big Question. DO WE WANT TO KNOW THE SEX OF THE BABY??? Of course. Baby Erb was a tough cookie at first. He was turned around sleeping on his stomach with his legs crossed and up under him so it took a while. After shaking my belly for awhile and Scott’s voice, baby Erb woke up turned over and stretched his legs out…and there HE was. Scott was yelling very loudly while I just laughed at him. The nurses in the room were laughing at us.

The Erb name lives on! We are both so happy that baby Erb looked very healthy. The nurse said baby Erb was right on track at 10 ounces.

Where did we come up with name you ask? We have thought about the name for a while with multiple lists. Scott and I had our own “American Idol” of baby names until we narrowed it down to one girl and one boy. So the final name is Grayson Alexander Erb. My middle name is Gray which was my great grandmother’s name but I think we both saw the name Grayson and just loved it. We looked at hundreds of names and family names (what a tough job and the pressure of not giving your poor child a bad name or hurting family members) but kept coming back to Grayson. Even though I know Scott wanted to keep Flannigan and was practicing his Scottish/Irish accent we BOTH decided not to keep it.

I am feeling great and have no funny stories this week like killing the smoke detector with a hammer. I am in the process of reading every book I can get my hands on. Any suggestions please let me know! They say the baby ears are fully operational by now so it’s time for Scott to start singing to the baby! We have been playing music for him from classical to rock and so far he seems to like “come on ride the train”.

The extra room is cleaned out and painted a pretty bright green. It is starting to look like a nursery! We were even able to restore my old baby bed! Thank you Scott for staring it and Emmett for finishing it! I love it. It looks great and it’s in the nursery ready to go. Just add baby.

P.S. Pictures of our ultrasound. We hope to have the video next week.

2 Days To Go!!!!!

April 27th, 2009

It’s like I’m a kid at Christmas… I can’t wait for Wednesday. In case you don’t know, Wednesday we find out the gender of the baby! We will let you know…

14th week…

March 29th, 2009

Greetings from the Erb household,

I just wanted to write a quick post about our 14th week checkup. We went last Wednesday (3/25). It went very well. Heartbeat was 155. Nurse said that was great. As the baby get older, the heartbeat goes down. Last heartbeat was 174. The nurse wasn’t going to perform a ultrasound, but Ashley batted her eyelashes at the Dr. and he gave us a quick one. We got to see the baby again. Flannagan is the size of a jumbo shrimp. We saw the heartbeat, spine, and it’s arm. Still too small to see the gender.

We are providing some pictures & video of our visit. Please note that quality of the photos and video may not be up to par. The pictures were very bright, and not of good quality. The video was shot over the Dr’s. head, and with no zoom. But we didn’t want to leave empty handed.

Next check up is the end of April. There we will do the Mega-Daddy of ultrasounds. There we find out the gender of the kid, and they will have it all for us on a DVD. So hopefully better video next time.

Baby room is coming along nicely. We have the background paint up, and can’t wait to fully optimize the room once we know the gender of the baby… stay tune.

Video… Video File is very Large.
