We are so blessed to have a happy little boy.
Wow, it is so hard to believe Grayson is almost 3 months old. He is doing well and we are actually doing ok ourselves. Grayson is so happy, eats well and isn’t too bad at sleeping.
So to catch everyone up on the past couple of months. For those of you who didn’t hear, labor was good. I wouldn’t do it again tomorrow but I think having contractions for 3 weeks had me some what prepared. But the epidural didn’t hurt either. The funny thing is Scott and I were up late Thursday night making plans for the weekend and where to go to watch the games. We had seen the doctor Wednesday and scheduled the inducement for next Friday (9/18). So we were prepared for Grayson to come the following Friday. We actually overslept that morning. Scott was late for work running around. My mother was coming over to take me out for the day and when I stood up I knew something was different! My water broke and by 10:30am we were hooked up and ready to get things started at the hospital. We had a great nurse that really looked after me. I never had to ask for anything. I really think that made all the difference. Right as the pain started she already had the epidural ordered and ready. Timing was perfect. We had a little delay around 6 that night. I had stopped dilating and the doctor suggested we might have to do a c-section. The pitocin was at its max and he didn’t want to continue with it. He said he would give me 2 more hours, so the nurses stood me straight up and I started to dilate again! Our family came in for the last time around 10:00 that night and a shock to us all Grayson was born at 10:59pm. Thank goodness because the epidural had run out! We were all prepared for a long night of pushing. But once I got the hang of it we were good to go. Linwood and Margaret drove up. My mom and Emmett were there and so was my dad and Nancy. Everyone got to see baby G right after he was born.
Grayson immediately started on a schedule, sleeping and eating every three hours. We have been very lucky to have such a calm baby. But don’t let him fool you when he is ready to eat or doesn’t want to do something he will let you know and the entire neighborhood. He screams like a girl. Linwood said Scott did the exact same thing as a baby. He looks so much like his daddy.
I had to go through all his clothes and move him into 6 months. They swallow him but he is so long that length wise we had to move up. He is sleeping in his crib most nights. He has a small problem with acid reflux so some nights are better than others for us. Which brings us to sleep. Wow, no matter what they say to warn you, you really don’t get it until you are there! I am learning how to exist on a few hours of sleep but it’s hard. Thanks to our family, I can go over there once a week to get some sleep. I also am learning how to do everything with one hand while holding him in the other. I should have practiced that for 9 months! But he is the love of our life and when he looks at you with that smile your heart melts and tears come to your eyes. We just love him so much.
Here are a few funny facts for Grayson at 11 weeks:
Nicknames: Baby G, Bugs.
Weight and Height: When weighed a few weeks ago he was a little over 11lbs and 24 inches.
Favorite things: Staring at ceiling fans, kicking and standing up. Music, pacifier and sleeping on anyone’s chest. He has also started to notice the big tv and all the wonderful colors.
Least favorite things: Bouncy seat and lying down flat. Also hates sitting down when he wants to stand up!
Tricks: He is aware of everyone and everything around him now and follows you walking around the room. He loves to stand up and is very strong. He is already picking up his head and moving it to the other side to see who is talking. He pushes up during his tummy time. He is actually smiling (not gas) at everyone and occasionally laughs. He’s favorite time of the day to play and laugh is 5:30 am. We still wonder if he is “our” baby!
Evil nemesis: GAS! Wow, didn’t know something that small could produce that much gas! And Coco stealing his toys.
We have a bunch of pictures to catch everyone up on. I promise now that we are getting use to all of this we will do a better job updating baby Erb.
That’s the 5am smile!
Thanks to you all for the cards, gifts, dinners and your prayers. We love you all.
